For whatever reason…it hurts!

I. Can’t. Move.

In an attempt to get ready to squeeze myself into a swimsuit in a little over one month, I have been working out extra hard the past few weeks. And I may have overdone it just a bit. I’ve been taking this spin class for months now, and although I think it has gotten me into much better shape, it is usually just a good workout and leaves me feeling pretty good.

Then I went and added this Body Pump class last week on my “off-spin” days. And it hurts. Two days later, I’m still hurting. I was having a very hard time in spin class today and now apparently my glute and quad muscles are on strike.

When I went to pick the girls up from the Kids Klub, Emma asked me (as she always does), “Did you work out hard today, Mommy? Did you get strong?” When I told her “Yes,” she said “Oh, Good! Now you are strong – can you carry me and Addie?”

Riiiight. I am struggling to get myself around, much less Addison. Little E. is on her own, I’m afraid.

It does make me so happy that she thinks I go to the gym to get healthy and strong. I mean, of course, I do, partially, but my eye is always on the numbers on the scale or my pants size, too. I just can’t seem to help it. And the last thing I want to do is pass any of my self-loathing body obsessions on to Em or Addie. It is so hard, I catch myself all the time saying some self-deprecating comment, and I just cringe. Lord knows they will get enough of that from the media and their friends as they grow up.

I have to make sure they aren’t hearing it from me, too.

I have to share this video with you. I have watched it numerous times now… and have sent it to my friends. It’s call “A Fat Rant”. It focuses on being fat… but it’s mainly about having a good attitude about your body image. I just love the girl’s attitude.

It is wrong to pull muscles we didn’t even know we had. There should be some law against it 🙂

Good for you and the work-outs! I’m getting back into my walking and have seriously thought about getting the weights out. Does thinking about it count?
