Blog Takeover

Michelle took over my blog last night while J. and I were in Seattle. Here is her version of the Anniversary Adventure. (I’ll post J.’s and my version tomorrow!)

Twenty-six hours with four fantastic childrenby Michelle B.

We have had one amazing time.

After the goodbye this morning, we did a little more nibbling on breakfast and then it was time to go bug-hunting outside. Not a big surprise that there were not any bugs in the front yard. Just like I can’t see any dust in your house…somehow they know not to come here (or the Scooba will get them).

Connor promised Big Emma that if we went to the Glen we would find big bugs, plus we could visit Diva the miniature hourse.

So there we were in our new “Silver Bullet Rent-A-Minivan” singing Row, Row, Row Your Boat, all the way to the Glen. We hiked up to see the horses, and Addison walked the whole way. “No hand, please,” she said. So we ran, hopped, and checked out the creek.

As we searched for more bugs (they must all be on holiday?), I realized I would have to call in the “Big Guns.”

Our insect specialist down the street was called and he pulled out his collection. Bugs, Black Widows, Cougar skins and stuffed real bull frogs from Mexico. We were all very impressed.

After hiking back to the house, we were clearly ready for lunch. We picnicked and I was invited to play my cello. There were lots of requests. And Addison loved putting her hand on the cello to feel the vibration. We laughed, sang and danced.

It was a good warm-up because before we knew it, it was 11:50, time for Emma’s dance class. She told me what shoes we needed on first, and we were all off. While she danced we had a little exploration/adventure complete with carrots and strawberries. Then we picked up Emma Grace and drove back to your home, sweet, home.

I have never seen Addison so tired. (Oh and she went potty at dance class – on the big potty!) She literally crawled into her bed as I was washing my hands. We blew kisses and that was it. Now it is 2:30 and the other three are playing quietly in the playroom. Everyone is so happy. You have gorgeous children, inside and out. This day makes me realize how blessed all of us parents are. Ok, time to play a serious game of Candyland….

(several hours later…)

Addie napped until 4:00 then we all played and Eric came home. Then it was like having five kids!

“Down time!” I would call out and they all just laughed. The six of us had a hearty dinner, bath, books and before we knew it, 8:39pm was here and all four gorgeous kids were in a deep sleep. They slept so well that I found myself checking on them often…only to find them all still sleeping!)

(more hours pass…)

I have loved being here and staying with your priceless children. I will give all four of them A+s!!

We hope that you two had a relaxing time. The good news is – this works. Can’t wait to do it again when you need us. We had a blast!

(This is Carrie, again…)
Not that I had any worries at all – we had an amazing time. But it is such a wonderful feeling to know that our girls had such a fantastic day, and they felt comfortable since it was really so seamless from their normal routine – well, it was a little more fun than normal, I think! And they are all ready to have a “sleepover” again – asap! Thank you, thank you, thank you M&E! We will definitely be consulting our calendars to plan some more getaways!
