Don’t drink the tea.

I told you people to not let me get too cocky. I dedicated my BSM to Addie and her potty-training achievements and have been running around patting myself on the back as if I was the one who did a spectacular job with the training.

And now I shall pay for all of the arrogance.

While sitting on the steps in a timeout this morning, Addie was screaming and carrying on and looked at me and said most defiantly, “I am going pee!” And she did. Right there on the step through her Cinderella skirt.

No sooner had I cleaned the puddle up and put her back in timeout (for the original offense, not for having an accident), when she started screaming about having more pee-pee. And so we had been running to the bathroom every 10 minutes up until lunchtime because I have been all about the “pee patrol” again.

Then we got home this afternoon after dropping Em off at school and Addie said, “I have to go poopy.” As we were walking back to the bathroom, I realized that she had in fact already “gone.” In her pants. So I cleaned her up and was taking her dirty clothes to the laundry room when I was sidetracked by the cat pee on the floor. (As a side-note, I scoop that stupid box every single day and they sit and WAIT until it is scooped and then will saunter over and either dirty the box within 2 minutes of it being clean, or even worse pee as close to the box as you can get without getting any of it IN the box.)

So I’m fuming, cleaning up the cat pee, and vowing to not let Smokey back in the house the next time she escapes. Addie is “airing out” until I can corral her to get her upstairs, clothed, and down for a nap, when she comes in and says, “Uh, oh. Poopy, Mommy! There is some poopy.”

At this point I’m not sure if it is human or cat poop, I can barely bring myself to follow her into the playroom. But I do, and there in the middle of the play kitchen area, all by itself, is a teacup. Filled with poop.

The girl pooped in one of her teacups.

POOPED. IN A TEACUP.

This qualifies as the most disgusting mommy clean-up to date.

As I was telling J. about my poopy day, I said, “See how much fun you are missing out on?”
He sarcastically says, “I can’t lie. It sounds like a blast.”

Not entirely the sympathy I was looking for. But I don’t expect any from you either, frankly I’d be amazed if you made it through this whole poopy post.

I must go sterilize…something. Everything.

Oh goodness! I feel your pain. Jonathon had a couple of poopy adventures. Unfortunately, each of them involved ripping his diaper off during naptime and smearing the contents EVERWHERE inside a pack and play. You know, all in the mesh, the fabric, between his toes. ICK It makes me shudder thinking about it. And not to mention he did it twice! THe first time, I threw the whole thing away and bought a new pack and play. The second time, I threw it away and vowed never to buy another one again. Just remember, this too shall pass. But for now, I’d be very hesitant to attend a tea party thrown by Miss Addie. 🙂

I am so sympathizing with you… but at the same time I am laughing out loud….

    “POOPED. IN A TEACUP.” hahahahaha

    HOLY CRAP!!!

    Sorry…I couldn’t resist.

Is it possible to be completely sympathetic while laughing hysterically? Because I really am sympathetic, I REALLY am.

But come ON. The kid pooped in a teacup. That’s funny sh–!

Oh My…I have tears, tears streaming down my cheeks…I’ve had such a bad week and this is the first time I laughed…thank you Addie for pooping in that teacup…and Care, that is priceless!

Sorry, Care I was totally with you until you got to the poop in the teacup. I’m laughing out loud! Good shot Addie — face it mom, that had to be tricky :o) And someday you will read this poopy post and laugh, too! Love you.

I’m glad I am not the only one who was laughing so hard that I had tears.

I am also glad that I am not the only one who had a day filled with adventures normally saved for the potty. Ugh – I don’t think there are words to express how glad I will be when potty training is over. Seriously, there aren’t.

So glad this was all good for somebody’s amusement! I can manage a smile over the whole ordeal now.

As I was telling my sister about it on the phone this evening she could NOT believe that I didn’t take a picture of it. “What?! That would have been so perfect for the blog,” she screamed.

Let me tell you, the thought crossed my mind for one nanosecond, right before I nearly lost my lunch in revulsion. But even I have to draw a line somewhere. I mean the ENTIRE post is about poop. To show it, yeah….that is just too much.

I agree with everything everyone said – especially Matt….the first thing I thought was HOLY CRAP….and then, Glad I am not close enough to be invited to a tea party. Oh and let’s not forget that she has some terrific aim.!!!!

That is just freaking hilarious Carrie – although I am sure you did not and probably still do not find the humor in it that the rest of us do. And in somewhat of a warped way, I think the farther away one is in time to the last time they had a “poopy kid moment,” the FUNNIER it is! Which means I can hardly contain myself at the moment!!! : )

Hang in there – this too shall pass (actually, I suppose it technically already passed…..) hahaah – I couldn’t resist that.

Add me to the list of sympathetic yet hysterical friends. But you can cross me off the list of invitees for a tea party. ;o) Oh my freakin’ goodness!

Oh, and gee thanks for sharing what I have to look forward to once we really start this potty training thing gung-ho.

Some stand up comic should pay you big money for that story. I’m so sorry but I had to laugh. If I ever have kids and have a similar situation, please laugh back at me.

  11. 11 Maya October 25, 2007 at 6:29 am

Oh my goodness! I don’t even know what to say but to laugh and know that you’ll be able to laugh at some crazy story of mine like this one day!

  12. 12 Stacy October 25, 2007 at 8:54 am

    Ugh. Just UGH!

Why do they test our patience so?? That sounds like quite the day. See, I was getting all cocky, too, and then she peed all over my clean carpet. I would be throwing away her teacup, too. Right in front of her, too, just in case she cared. I don’t think I could see them trying to do imaginative drinking out of the cup EVER AGAIN.

And, thanks so much for not showing the poop. I get enough of that at home. 😉

  13. 13 Rosey October 25, 2007 at 1:52 pm

LOL! Hey, at least she kept it contained! Okay. Not what you want to hear! But if had to choose between your experience and Becky’s – I’d go with yours!

So sorry for the bad day. Oh the stories of “poop” we could all share! Thanks for holding in the pictures!!

    A teacup. Classic.

    I hope Harrison doesn’t choose a toy truck bed…

Come on people! You have to admit, my sister takes the best pictures ever… and by adding this to her already bulging hard drive, will only take a small spot for a very big “play” someday. Seriously, who could resist this ultilmate blackmail picture? I can see it now, in the middle of a table, with tea cups all around at my dear sweet nieces open house when she graduates from high school.

Care- I too shared the story at work today. Let’s just say Addie has brought hysterics to all told. What a kid! Priceless for sure. And, you’ll have to help me explain to Ad why Aunt Meesh doesn’t have any “cups” to play with when you come to visit! Love you!

  15. 15 Kim October 25, 2007 at 6:26 pm

ROFL!!!!! I’d have just thrown the teacup out.

  16. 16 MommyBrain October 31, 2007 at 11:23 am

I’m so sorry. I can’t stop laughing long enough to write a coherent comment….still laughing!
