Sleep, my pretty.

I put A. down for a nap as soon as we got home from dropping Em at preschool. I could hear her up there singing and playing. A few “shout outs” to “Maaamaaa!” – but clearly nothing I was going up to investigate.

So I’m just sitting here working away and about 15 minutes ago I realize that she is finally quiet. Yes. Sweet blessed sleep.

Then I realize she fell asleep at 3:15. And I have to wake her up in about 5 minutes (3:35) to go pick up Em from school.

What is worse than no nap? A 20-minute nap.

Figures.

Ugh. I hate those naps. Definitely worse than no nap at all.

Yeah – I third that sentiment!
I get why it is so much worse….think about those days when you are just about asleep and one of the kids comes in your room …you get them back to bed, get yourself back to bed and just as you are drifting off said child, or another one, wanders in needing something. I know it makes me CRANKY!
Kids are older and sleep through the night but they still get me on road trips. I LOVE to sleep in the car – when I am the passenger and not the driver, of course – and look forward to catching lots and lots of zzzz’s when we have a trip planned. I just drift off and I hear, “Mom, can you change the station?” and then, “Mom, could you tell _____(insert name of sibling) to stop whistling?” And then just as the zzz’s are beckoning again, the inserted child’s name yells, “mom, she told me to stop whistling and now she won’t quit humming to her i-pod.” You’d think they could talk to dad about this stuff – afterall, he is CLEARLY awake as the driver while my seat is as far back as I can put it without crushing anyone’s legs, my pillow has been fluffed and I usually have a blanket over me (told you I LOVE car naps!)! Somehow, those aren’t clear enough indications that I would prefer not to be disturbed….anyway – I digress! Just wanted to agree with everyone else! : )

ACK! The short nap is infinitely worse than no nap at all. I hope your tired cranky girl wasn’t TOO tired and cranky this afternoon.

Hey, so she’s sitll (usually!) sleeping well in the crib?

In my case, until she got too big to lift I could often transfer her from sleeping place to car…..but hey….I blame Daylight Savings for this whole sleeping mess.
