Just Like Me ~ Best Shot Monday

Happy Christmas Eve! I hope your house is buzzing with all of the anticipation Christmas brings. Ours certainly is. We are still busy preparing for tomorrow, but have managed to get all of our shopping, wrapping and baking done over the weekend. We are ready, I think. I also managed to lose (and thankfully find and pick up) my debit card, and do some fun things like go to the mall (just to people watch and hang out), and then we picked up peppermint cocoas (mochas for the Mommys) and drove around looking at the Christmas lights last night. So much fun, and so relaxed and just so perfect.

Nena took the girls over the weekend to the American Girl Place store to pick out their Christmas presents and Emma picked out her “Just Like Me” doll. Over much agonizing and discussion, we left with a new addition to our family, which she has named “Elizabeth.”

I don’t think the doll has left her side since Nena gave it to her on Friday night.

Addie got a Bitty Baby, but she is a little more cautious in accepting the new arrival. I think she thinks that the baby is supposed to take the place of Bear, and that just isn’t going to happen. Our infamous Bear had a little adventure over the weekend, as well. He nearly spent the entire night in the swing in the front yard. Thankfully Uncle Jeff rescued him and he was returned to his happy crib.

Anyhow, Emma announced that Addie wanted to name her new baby, “Kaya.” I asked Em later if she had named the baby or if Addie had and this is what she said to me –

“Well, Mama, I told Addie that she could name her baby anything she wanted to, like Kaya or Princess Emma – and Addie just picked Kaya.”

I guess A.’s “big sister” love only goes so far…no matter how unsure of this new baby she is, she isn’t going to name it after our Princess Emma.

Check out Tracey’s new site and lots of holiday Best Shot Mondays!

Beautiful photo! She looks so pleased. I had never even heard of the American Girl Doll until this month on Oprah -lol – but they look very special and wonderful.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

that’s one happy little girl, just look at the sparkle in her eyes! I remember the way I craved an American Girl doll as a child…altho back then there was only Samantha, Kirsten and Molly! I’m so glad she got her Christmas wish, and hopefully Addie will warm up to Kaya. :o)

    Merry Christmas!
