Hawaii ~ First Half of the Trip

Alright. Here we go. The long awaited details and photos of the trip.

Well, the first half of the trip anyhow. It is taking me awhile because we have lots of photos and videos. And, well, it always takes a few days for re-entry. We are getting back to normal around here, sort of.

First, this was our view out the hotel we stayed at for the first half of the trip. We did have rainbows almost every day, too!

Obviously, it was partly a work-related trip for J., so we stayed at the Hawaiian Hilton Village in Waikiki. It was the hub for all of the NFL staff and their families. (No, not the players. They were in a hotel near the stadium. Boo hoo. I did not get to meet Peyton Manning, although he did wave to me from the sidelines. He did. No matter what Jeff says, he did!)

So the Hilton Village was indeed a “village.” It had all kinds of shops, pools, beaches, restaurants – it really was more of a “compound” than a hotel.

They had fun little kid activities like the “fish feeding” every morning. (Yes, we did feed them every morning.)

They had lei-making classes and Em and I learned how to Hula. (One of the things Em was insistent on doing before we even set foot on the plane.)

I especially loved the beach. The water was nice and calm and it had very good “sand-castle” sand.

But the best activity, according to the girls, was the pool. We stuck to the “warm” pool near our tower of rooms, but there were several other pools, as well.

“Can we go to the pool, now?” was by far the most frequently asked question of the trip.

Oh yeah, they also had a really good ice cream shop…

And every night, when we would return to the hotel, the girls would race to open the door first. I’m not sure why Addie was racing, Emma always had the key, but it never failed they would take off sprinting to get to the door.

And the purpose of the trip – the ProBowl, of course. J. wrangled tickets for all of us to go to the NFL tailgate, which was actually pretty cool. Free goodies, food and drinks – so that was choice.

And the game was fun, but HOT!

Emma was rooting for the NFC, I think she was the only one, but it turns out she picked the winning team again. Pretty amusing since I think she only picked them to spite me. She had asked which team I was rooting for (P. Manning and the AFC, of course) and she decided to pick the opposite of Mom. Or maybe hanging around Daddy has rubbed off on her a bit and she really is ready for some football!

Did I mention it was HOT? Check out Ad’s ringlets.

I put up a bunch of other photos in Flickr, and I’ll keep putting them up in the next few days.

The day after the ProBowl we headed up to a house that we had rented on the beach on the North Shore. Completely different vibe – like two separate vacations. The second half of the vacation was my favorite, for sure. I’ll try to power through the photos from the second week and post about that tomorrow soon.

Just gorgeous. All of the photos are amazing. It looks like the girls had a blast.

I can’t wait to see the rest of your trip. After the recent Hawaii trip recap from Greeblemonkey… and now yours… Hawaii may have to be put on the top of our “must do” vacation list.

Beautiful! The girls look like they were having so much fun…and why wouldn’t they?? Love the rainbow shot above, too. I remember Honolulu had a rain shower just about every 15 minutes it seemed like LOL!

    Love the new header, too!

Here’s Peyton just before (or after?) the alleged ‘waving’ incident. 😉
