Recovery Mode

Today was spent in recovery. I actually felt really good and was barely sore – a testament to decent training, I guess. Two funny things did come out of the race yesterday, though.

Addison is very disturbed that my numbers will not come off. They mark your race number on your arms and hands and your age on your calf. And they use permanent marker. She just kept saying, “Uh oh, Mama! Don’t draw on you!”

We have had a never-ending battle with my mantra to her being, “You only draw on paper – not yourself!” She just can’t seem to resist the allure of marker on her legs and arms.
So imagine how much of a hypocrite I looked like yesterday. Thankfully it is almost off and hopefully won’t inspire any new drawing urges in A.

Emma however was inspired by the triathlon and held her own “race” in the courtyard yesterday while I tried to clean it up. She would run around the courtyard, and then yell, “Now I have to put my helmet on and bike, right Mama? Countdown for me!” For the swimming portion she would kick her shoes off and “pretend” to swim. It was all great to see her so excited. I hope some day that we can run a real triathlon together.

That’s so cool! I hope Emma stays inspired.

That’s so cute about Emma’s backyard triathalon! That’s probably the only kind I’m fit to compete in. As for Addison’s drawing on herself I’m glad to hear that she did learn to stop. Last week at the doctor’s office I pulled off R’s shirt to find her entire stomach covered in pen. Still don’t know when she got a hold of a pen. Too funny about your own drawings!

Hehe, I love it that Em held her very own triathalon! She’s got one heck of an inspiring mama. :o) Too funny about Addie and the markers, too. We’re working on that one here, too.
Can’t believe you weren’t even sore after that wow!
